Mint Condition Apple

Apple video and audio editing?

Iam an extremely computer savey person when it comes to Windows based machines. My last 2 semesters of school require me to use a MAC frequently for Audio and Video editing. I do not plan to spend countless hours in school using the public MAC's in the Library so i intend to buy my own.

For video and audio editing, i was wondering what is some good specs i should be looking for. The new MAC laptops have great specs but iam on a budget for maybe an older machine or used.

Ebay has some mint condition Apple laptops for affordable prices (around $500). But they have 500mhz-1ghz processors.

HERE IS THE BIG QUESTION!!!
I know the wait time for rendering will be longer, but can i CAPTURE (no lost frames), EDIT, and RECORD the same on a 500Mhz Apple laptop as i would a 1.3ghz or 2ghz Apple laptop?

Iam not worried about the wait times or anyhting, I just dont want to loose frames when recording or have long wait times when opening applications. I will add 1gb mem and Bigger HD.

Ugh, I suggest you don't buy a Mac at all.

I thought they were pretty good at first (for entertainment, not audio/video program stuff) but then it started failing on me. Programs started crashing, and I don't know why.

I called AppleCare, and they offered me little help. He just said that maybe I should buy another Mac instead, with no offer to give it for free or anything. He did offer a 5% discount though.

I just bought a Sony Vaio instead, and I'm quite happy. After all, Apples aren't the only quality laptop makers.
